You have selected a Surf Skate sized medium.

Competitive and intermediate riders will excell with Surf Skate. You can purchase the Surf Skate with fins or without fins. If you purchase Surf Skate with fins, the fins are removable and subsequently will ride the same as the finless model. If you purchase Surf Skate WITHOUT fins, there are no fin holes and the boards cost about $20 less.

Surf Skate with fins is still very capable of spins and some riders prefer the extra control fins provide.

Surf Skate finless is amazingly stable and capable of carving the face of the wave, once you learn the board.

More Information

What does it mean for a surf board to be stable?
Many surfboards have a tendency to roll from side to side, like standing upon a log and the log rolling. Obviously, this makes it more difficult for a beginner. Trick Boardz patented shape essentially does not roll.

What is nose diving?
Many of the “name brand” wake surfboards have a tendency to nose dive or “pearl”. Once this occurs, the board goes underwater and the ride is over. To compensate for this design flaw, other brands of boards will increase the thickness of the foam at the front of the board or they will increase the rocker (upward turn) at the front of the board. Both approaches only help a little and do not solve the problem. In addition, this “fix” causes the board to slow down.

Trick Boardz patented shape can continue to surf even after the nose has gone underwater. We are not saying that you can’t bury the nose of a Trick Boardz and crash; you can. An intermediate or advanced rider will frequently push the nose of a Trick Boardz underwater while surfing aggressively and continue surfing. In this way, an aggressive rider can get more performance out of the board. With Trick Boardz you can constantly push the envelope.

Why is a twin tip board an advantage?
Single tip boards are difficult to surf backwards; they are not conducive to 180s and 540s. The first wakeboards and snowboards were single tip; you can't even buy one now. Trick Boardz introduced the world's first twin tip wake surfboard. Other brands place small fins at the front of their single tip boards so they can surf backwards. While they are surfing backwards though, their performance suffers.

With the other brands of boards, once you do a 180 or a shuv-it, you have to spin back around quickly because the boards do not surf well backwards. With Trick Boardz, there is no front or rear. You ride both toe side and heel side in the same set. It’s more fun, your legs don’t get tired as quickly, and you can excel in competition.

Why is surfboard speed important?
Speed in a surfboard is both the top speed and acceleration. If the board accelerates well, you will attain higher speeds. Wake surfboard acceleration is critical. The greater the speed of a board, the further back on the wave you can go and continue to surf. When you move back on the wave on a slow board, you cannot accelerate forward again and the ride is over. All models of Trick Boardz are fast; Velocity and Surf Skate are the fastest.

Speed is also necessary for many surf tricks. Typically, you accelerate from back on the wave towards the boat. As you get close to the boat you convert that excess speed into the trick. The better your board can accelerate the more tricks you can perform.

Wake surfboard acceleration can be intimidating to a beginner. We encourage beginners to practice as far back on the wave as possible so they can get comfortable with putting on the brakes. If your boat has a Fresh Air Exhaust installed, you can safely (but perhaps not legally) have someone sitting on the back of the boat to “catch” a beginner if they run into the boat.

Why are Trick Boardz made of Wood?
Wood is durable and has already proven itself in snow boards, wake skates and skate boards. Wood is stiff yet flexible. The manufacturing technique we use results in a board that is very strong yet only 15% heavier than a fiberglass board.
Wood is difficult to damage and easy to repair (use clear fingernail polish). Fiberglass is easy to damage and more expensive and difficult to repair. Some foam/fiberglass boards have a 60 day warranty; Trick Boardz has a 1 year warranty. With proper care, Trick Boardz will last for generations.

By manufacturing out of wood, we have been able to progress in our board design more rapidly. Since introducing our first board in 2002, the Freestyle, we have developed Velocity, Surf Skate, and now Mojo. We also offer several sizes of boards so you can select the ride that is right for you and your wake. Manufacturers of fiberglass boards have so much money tied up in molds that they have to sell lots of every design, even if they don’t surf very well. Many of the “brand name” boards are mediocre one size fits all design due to the limitations imposed by the high cost of compression molds.

How are Trick Boardz made?
Trick Boardz are NOT made by curving flat sheets of plywood. Trick Boardz are made one layer of wood (veneer) at a time and compression molded. The veneers are coated with waterproof glue and then placed in a mold. The molds are pressed with tons of force and heated to over 212 degrees (boiling water temperature). The finished boards are then cut to shape and painted with a water based marine grade polyurethane (that produces very low VOCs - air pollution). Our wood veneers come from managed forests in the U.S. and Canada.

"I thought it would be a dud."

"Coming from a skateboarding background makes Trick Boardz easy to ride. I am 250 lbs and have no problem. I threw a 180 on my first ride and kept it stable and in the pocket."
WakeWorld.com

"These boards can do it all, surf, 180's, 360's, you name it."
WakeWorld.com

"I would definetly go with a Trickboardz Freestyle. Way better than the boards you mentioned. More versatle and easy, easy to ride. I have the CWB surf board and the inlander... Trickboardz blows them away."
Moomba Bulletin Board

"pulled off 180's and lip slides the first day, these things are sweet. The concave bottom definitely helps you to lock into the wake easier than a conventional surfboard."
Mark Norwell
2001 National Masters Men Wakeboard Champion
2003 Worlds and Nationals Veterans Men Wakeboard - Second Place

"I grew up surfing on the Florida coast. Living inland now, I slalom, kneeboard, wake skate and wakeboard to cope with not being able to surf; while trying to duplicate moves similar to surfing and get that "vibe" one can only get on a surfboard. So far, NOTHING has come close to pulling off the same moves, or generating the same feelings… until I purchased a Trick Boardz! I got up on my first try, no problem at all. In 2 minutes I was able to drive down the line doing roller-coasters, power cut backs, off the lips, roundhouse carves, and floaters. I was hooked! I no longer have to go to Costa Rica every year to get my "Surfing Fix", I can get it every weekend on my Trick Boardz!"
Michael Stephenson, Dallas TX

Hey, your board is great. I bought a "different brand wakesurfer" for my boys, but ended up using a friend's Trick Boardz instead! My boys (ages 9, 12, and 14) tried a few different boards, and said Trick Boardz was the best!
Regards,
Dan Lutter
